SO, we have no one in charge of Streetscene, that does not surprise me or many more tax payers here in Newport.
I wrote a letter to the Argus last April (which was printed) wondering if Goldie Lookin' Chain would like to do a spot of cleaning up in St Julians and before their concert. After all one of their group is councillor for St Julian’s Ward, but I did not hold out much hope.
I was right.
What started off as a double bed mattress on Caerleon Road by the second railway crossing at the entrances to Network Rail, has now developed into quite a nice tidy pile, ready for some setting -light fun, attracting yobs to have a good laugh.
Not only have we got rubbish being dumped, there is vegetation from before last Christmas cut down by the first Railway Bridge and left to rot, plus other stuff dumped there.
Not to mention the dead pigeons on the road, plus their droppings on the pavements.
