I WISH to draw to your attention the excellent experience I have had in the last 12 months in the Royal Gwent. In a climate full of negative press, often berating the NHS, in particular the Royal Gwent, I think praise should be printed where it is due.
I have been a locum in the A&E department since August 2014 and have had nothing but positive experiences. From the outset staff were friendly and accommodating, always going out of their way to help patients and other staff.
They are knowledgeable and dedicated, and it has been a privilege to work within their team, working and learning together.
The team I refer to involves multiple disciplines, from nurses to auxiliaries, and catering to radiology not to mention the plethora of ED doctors and speciality teams that are involved in patient care, as well as the wondrous welsh ambulance service who bring the patients in.
Yes, sometimes there is a long wait.
Yes, there are a lot of patients and sometimes a few too few staff but these staff consistently go above and beyond to give the best care, even when busy.
To you all, thank you for the last twelve months, it has been enjoyable and educational, and I wouldn’t be the clinician I am without you.
