GOOD question, why does social inequality still persist and is actually being reinforced with a vengeance.
People are outraged by the indifference, inhumanity, and social exclusion perpetrated by our governing elite and their super rich supporters, which are now becoming so blatant that government departments are either trying to prevent publication of embarrassing statistical data or are changing the criteria for measuring the facts.
In one of the world's richest countries we have “working” people dependant on food banks, families living on streets, (it can't all be self inflicted) appalling sub standard housing, zero hours contracts, etc.
Yet we have a tiny elite, cut off from most Britons, who spend as much on one lunch as many families earn in one week, outdated beliefs that propagate injustice and poverty and waste are presented as natural, long standing and unchangeable.
The media tell us society cannot be changed, even the Labour Party has been brainwashed by the hegemonic rhetoric.
It's vital we argue against the tenets of injustice, that elitism is efficient, exclusion is necessary, prejudice is natural, greed is good, and despair inevitable.
