IT’S truly amazing that Labour controlled Torfaen Borough Council have the audacity to hold yet another survey asking people’s views on how council services are run.
Torfaen Council's grasp of democracy is limited in that they rarely listen to the wishes of the people.
For example the pupils, parents and teachers of Pontnewynydd Primary School were united against its closure but their pleas were arrogantly ignored even though the Wales Report 2013 stated the school “leads the way in Wales in achieving excellence in teaching and learning.”
The manned destruction of our “green-belt” between Pontnewydd and South Sebastopol with a private housing estate has gone ahead against the wishes of many people and much protest.
Also note the £24 million worth of Tory cuts imposed by Torfaen Council over five years against our requests for the council to protect front-line services for the most poorest and vulnerable in the borough.
The reality is that the council do what they like as dictated by Westminster or the WAG.
There is very little democracy.
