HOW I applaud MP Paul Flynn for his comments regarding the proposed “Eastern Bloc” development for the former Sainsbury site.
How can the Fear Group imagine an 84-bed hotel, 601-room student village, 144 residences, a convenience store and GP surgery will fit on such a small site? It’s a ghetto in the making.
We already have an ugly “Eastern Bloc” student village and with a decrease in student numbers do not need another one to blight the landscape, thank you.
There is definitely no “wow” factor about the artist’s impression for the site.
I would also commend the excellent letter yesterday from John Hillman who warns of the dangerous piecemeal approach to development which can easily blight what was once an elegant town.
