WORK to the flats at Hillview has been completed but I wonder if like at Greenwood, where work to flats was completed a few months ago, residents are still waiting to be told when work to the communal areas will begin.
We were told many months ago that contractors had been chosen to carry out the work. If you walked into the foyer at Greenwood, you would see wallpaper that has been on the walls for at least ten years hanging off the walls, flaking paint and old carpet.
The corridors are not much better. This is not a good first impression of a tower block that has just undergone millions of pounds worth of refurbishment work. Residents are still waiting to be told if we are going to have a new guest flat (we have been without a guest flat for about three years).
We were promised a new communal kitchen and improvements to the residents lounge. Lighting to the outside walls is yet to be replaced and rosebeds replanted. Communications between Newport City Homes and residents concerning this work is non-existent .
