THE so-called development in John Frost Square may give the town a boost, we look forward to its completion.
However, some thought should have been given to Newport having a proper transport system: people just can not get to the town.
We need a bus/ tram light rail service run as a public service, not as a business!
We also need a decent bus station integrated with the railway station, this is what has been promised, included the line from Newport to Ebbw Vale reopen.
Will this take place? We wait and see.
60 years ago, Newport had a good bus service, run for the public – they would have lost their operating licence if it was not. Now it’s so different.
Newport had a vibrant shopping centre, loads of shops, loads of people (shoppers) as well as cars. T, that is no more: pavements are now car parks,or other obstructions, and shops are gone.
We accept that change is part of life, but does it need to change for profit, and then be told that the service is improving?
As an outsider, you can see that the town’s mistake,s, like traffic planning, are based on the same people that have caused the mess in the first place.
This of course is democracy?
