AS is usual every year, Ukip took a stand at the Bedwellty Agricultural Show, where it was obvious the organisers had made a valiant effort to put on a successful event.
As with most things with agriculture in the UK at the moment, funds are limited, and such events are obviously impacted by rising costs, particularly with regard to health and safety issues.
It is therefore appalling that yet again (as has been the case for the last several years) neither the Labour Party, nor Plaid Cymru, were present to show their support for this very Valleys event. This, despite the fact, that they have representation at community, county, and in the case of Labour, Parliamentary level in the very constituency where this show is held.
Is this indicative of the complacency Labour shows when it comes to the voters who elect them.
No doubt they will be present at what they must perceive to be the more-prestigious events, that of both the Usk and Monmouth shows.
One wonders, is it because their votes are nowhere near as secure there as they are in the Valleys?
