I WOULD like to thank Lewis Griffiths and Charlie Vigor of the Mor Ladron Casnewydd (Newport Pirates) group for organising the splendid Pirates at Raglan Castle event last weekend.
Lewis and Charlie have only been pirate re-enactors for a few years starting with very limited resources but the Raglan event was a real triumph.
Over 1,500 visitors were entertained by 146 pirates who had come from as far afield as Yorkshire and the Isle of Wight.
Special thanks should also be given to Jane McQuillan of Cadw who always makes visitors and re-enactors very welcome at Raglan.
I have attended many re-enactment events on behalf of the Newport Medieval Ship but would honestly say that last Saturday’s was the most enjoyable.
It was an atmosphere of friendly fun and enjoyment but the educational show and tell displays were of a high standard.
Any readers are contemplating ‘turning pirate’ call captain Lewis on 07521 870066.
