ALMOST all US and UK citizens are agreed on a policy of “no boots on the ground”, which means none of our soldiers shall be put in harm’s way on foreign soil.
Conversely, many of us favour a policy where our aircraft and drones fly unchallenged in the skies of these countries, dropping bombs wherever we think it is a good idea.
Are we completely unable to perceive how our policies are judged by billions of people in Third World nations?
The West commits push-button warfare like a teenage boy in an amusement arcade, zapping images on a screen, with no possible danger to its own forces while it rains indiscriminate death out of the skies upon a helpless population below.
We should be able to understand the fear which we create in every family, of the fragments of bodies blown to pieces, which are then excused as collateral damage.
Any intelligent, educated adult should be able to imagine how his own actions, which he believes to be quite justified, are construed by other people who do not share our fixed prejudices.
The West is actively promoting the cause of the resentful terrorist, worldwide, and is too stupid to recognise it.
