I AM FEELING very annoyed at all the misinformation circulating about these Trolliblocs with our local councillors saying they had to introduce them because the Welsh Assembly made them.
I decided to search through the minutes of meetings held by the Environment, Economy and Infrastructure Scrutiny Committee who made the decision to use these boxes.
They make for very different reading.
Nowhere in those minutes does it say that the Welsh Assembly MADE them use the trolliblocs method of recycling, in fact a fact-finding team went to Conway to see their Trollibloc scheme and came back thinking this was the way to go.
Despite all the reasons residents have said make the scheme unworkable for our area and those very reasons being brought up by various councillors, they still voted for this scheme to go ahead.
Nowhere in the minutes do officers suggest any alternative for consideration.
When a collaborative approach with other authorities was suggested it was dismissed immediately.
Don’t they continue with the bags and fine those who don’t recycle like they fine fly tippers or people who don’t pick up their dog mess.
It seems to me we who have always recycled are being punished by being made to use these huge unwieldy boxes, whilst those who have never recycled will not be punished as they won’t bother to use these boxes now if they never used the bags before.
