LAST week despite being a resident of Abergavenny I went to St Woolos Hospital for a hip operation, this was with some trepidation as having reached the age of 78 years without ever being an inpatient and with all the doom and gloom surrounding I did not know what to expect, I do now.
I have received worse treatment in a 3 star hotel.
From the moment of arrival I was put at ease and throughout my stay nothing was too much trouble be it day or night.
The standard of hygiene was exemplary.
The food was a real eye opener with a very varied menu expertly cooked.
The staff despite being busy always had time to talk and have a laugh which made one forget the discomfort of the operation.
Strange to say I quite enjoyed my stay.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all staff from the surgeon to the lady who brought my tea. They all played their part in my recovery.
