IS IT TOO simplistic to think “traffic wardens” would pay for themselves (as well as giving pride to a family for having a working breadwinner)?
There is income to be made from the fines. (This could be helped by a competition between traffic and litter wardens?)
Increased income from council-owned car parks.
May even help the bus companies when motorists realise buses might be cheaper than paying for parking and life is less stressful when someone else is doing the driving. Can I add please as a regular user of Newport Leisure Centre it would be nice if the mean self-centred, selfish skinflints who leave their cars in the Centre’s private car park while at work or shopping requiring genuine, sometimes disabled users, to pay for parking some hundred metres away found their moral compass and didn’t.
