THE debate on whether or not Newport Transport buses should run along High Street again goes on and on.
I think it is pretty obvious if this were to happen this would mean an increase in journey times for most services. I for one would not be happy with this.
I would therefore like to suggest the following: rather than market traders continue with their petition, why don’t they conduct a survey asking the general public how often they use the market, what they think of the market, how can they improve things to encourage people to use it more etc.
The Argus can help with this by printing the survey online and in the newspaper and Newport Council through Newport Matters.
Or – the Argus and Newport Council could give market traders free advertising space so that each market trader can introduce themselves to the general public and let them know what they sell.
Or market traders could produce a flyer that they could hand out to people in the city centre.
There is a lot that the market traders can and should do to help themselves!
