LORD Kinnock lost two General Elections as party leader, 1987 and 1992 but is seen as central in starting the new Labour process of party modernisation that led to Tony Blair’s victory.
Saying all that Lord Kinnock is not in a position to offer Jeremy Corbyn advice on how to win elections.
So when Lord Kinnock challenges Corbyn to resign if Labour’s fortunes don’t improve which is already 8 per cent behind the Tories. Which never has been so badly at this point in the election cycle since the Second World War?
Lord Kinnock also indicated that MPs should mount a coup to topple Mr Corbyn if he refuses to step down in such circumstances.
I see he wants Labour to drift back towards the Blair/Brown centre, with the help of Labour MPs.
Who would be Labour’s front runners as the new leader, Mr Burnham, Mrs Copper but knowing Lord Kinnock I think he is positioning his son Stephen Kinnock MP for a future role.
Lord Kinnock, anti-Europe and became a MEP, anti-House of Lords and became a Lord. At least the lefties in Wales and Scotland can join the fight against Tory cuts with Plaid Cymru and SNP.
While the ones remaining in Labour as MPs, AMs and councillors can talk of fighting for the working classes and being a socialist Labour party to get their votes and keep their seats.
