I REFER to my letter printed in the Argus on March 11, 2016, under the heading “New bus station” in which I stated that I would like to know when a member of staff from the Transport Department at Newport City Council last visited the new bus station and that my guess was that no-one has been there since the bus station opened. If they had, they would have noted that it is far from completed.
I made a point of mentioning that the bus information at each stand is totally inadequate and almost impossible to read.
I stated that there should be real-time information just as there is at the bus station in Market Square.
I am very pleased to see today that Newport Bus has taken on board what I said and that there are now three screens on the wall in the bus station displaying real-time information, although apparently they are not in use yet.
This will be of great benefit to bus users as it will save them walking up and down the bus station looking for the stand that they need. I would like to thank Newport Bus for this.
