EVERY year, it is the same.
Caerphilly County Borough Council will change sporting facilities over from one season – winter – to summer.
This may entail remarking and refitting of playing fields in particular and there is always considerable argument between sporting associations and the authority as to when this should occur.
The authority always wins as they resort to dogma and rhetoric.
With the large number of games to be rearranged this year following the inclement weather endured by all, perhaps this year would be different.
Alas no, again this year, with a crucial match to be played on an evening, the preferred rugby field for Ynysddu RFC, adjacent to the clubhouse, had to change to a cricket field as the dates in the calendar dictate this, so took away the rugby posts, effectively preventing use of the field.
Very puerile actions for an understanding authority.
Even though no cricket will be played until May.
This stance annually generates animosity between the playing organisations and CCBC officials.
When will they learn, talk to their communities, and their community representatives, meaningfully and positively, without dogma and reticence.
