HERE we go again; the hellathon. Who has the legal right, and who makes the decision to close main artery roads, from Cardiff to Caerphilly, to Newbridge, Pontypool, Blaenavon, Abergavenny, Usk, Newport, and finally to Cardiff? Yes, I question the legality of this event, and also question how any organisation can obtain enough power for this to go ahead, without proper consultation of the people it’s going to affect. We have the right to earn a living and to our leisurely freedom on that day and pay enough taxes for the privilege. Yes it’s great to have a charitable event, but to allow such a vast area to be affected is unacceptable. A coast route, with damage limitations and better consultations, would be more acceptable. I cannot go north, east, south or west from my village on that day which should be my right. Although I contribute to charities through the year, I do not support this event.
