REPLYING to Arthur Nicholaas’ letter on the subject of drones.
The payload that the majority of drones purchased can carry amounts to a couple of pounds weight at most and this is taken up by the weight of the batteries, camera and FPV equipment to enable it to be controlled from the ground.
The payload left for any weapons of mass destruction is a matter of ounces and I am sure that this is enough to bring mass hysteria from the public especially in Moscow when they see one in the air.
However model aircraft are far bigger, many are quarter scale of real aircraft and much more and could carry payloads of many pounds as well as all the technology to control them.
The problem here is that when the word drone is mentioned images of drones such as the Predator appear (MoD refused to sell me one) and not the general type used by the public which all the publicity is about.
My comments Arthur are based on 62 years of experience, what is yours?
If you would like to know more, then I would suggest you visit the Gaer Park Model Club at Castleton one day and your eyes will be opened.
