MR COLIN Durham complains that our Eastern valleys aren’t getting their fair share of Caerphilly Council spending (Letters, June 10). But the figures he’s complaining about relate only to one year’s transport and road safety projects. Mr Durham’s neglecting other recent developments in Islwyn, funded or part-funded by Caerphilly Council. Like the new, state-of-the-art £25 million Islwyn High School, and the refurbishment of Cwmcarn High School; the renovation of the Risca Palace, Newbridge Memo and Blackwood Stute, together with the regeneration of those towns; and the Sirhowy Enterprise Way road network. Mr Durham was until recently a Caerphilly councillor. I don’t recall him raising such concerns when our Council’s 2016/17 budget was being considered. But I know he’ll support all Caerphilly councillors’ efforts to ensure a fair distribution of ever-more limited resources across our county borough.
