ONE of the consequences of Torfaen Council imposing Tory government cuts is that they have handed over the running and maintenance of football pitches over to local clubs. The result is that here in Croesyceiliog the pitches behind Raglan Court and Cardigan Crescent/Close, once the football season has finished do no get cut. So instead of an area where children can play football, rugby, baseball, cricket (etc) we have hayfields! (Long grass with dog mess dotted throughout!) This hardly encourages our children to get active and stay healthy does it? (The only Bales here are made of hay!) Perhaps we could play on the green areas outside houses on the estate or maybe mark out pitches on the roads? Better still, the people responsible for cutting the pitches should show some empathy and realise that the pitches are in fact a community asset and get the mower out! (ASAP!) As a council tax payer I object to paying about £100 a month whilst community pitches are taken out of service.
