DRIVING from Cwmbran to Newport along the A4042 I admired the savings that must be being made by our cost conscious councils in allowing the road side grass to grow unhindered. Most grass along the stretch of the A4042 is high enough to hide litter thrown from cars, saving a clean up bill or two. The only down side I can think of is that the grass would hide a cycle or motorbike, laid on its side, also its injured rider. Face down in the high grass.
