CONGRATULATIONS to Paul Flynn on his appointment as Labour’s Shadow  Leader of the House of Commons and Shadow Secretary of State for Wales. I hope he lasts longer than the two days of another of Jeremy Corbyn’s appointees.
It won’t come as a surprise to anyone, that Flynn supports Corbyn. They were happy comrades in arms on the back benches for nearly 30 years, planning the revolution that was sure to come about one day.
At 81, Paul is the oldest front-bencher since William Gladstone in the 1880s. Perhaps the best memory is of Paul declaring his house in leafy Edward VII Avenue, a “nuclear free zone”. I’m sure the Russians were terrified.
I look forward to further such entertainment, now that he is on the front bench.
