WE WANT to reassure the neighbours of the Riverside Centre that the proposed Blue Cross rehoming and advice unit is not a kennel block where lots of dogs are kept for a large part of the day and overnight.
There will be a maximum of four dogs at the unit during the day and each evening the dogs will travel to local boarding kennels to spend the night. There are no facilities to keep pets overnight at Willenhall Street, nor any plans to change this in the future.
While they are at the unit, the dogs will be in a “home room” where prospective owners can come to meet them and find out about our work. The pets will be accompanied by volunteers, so are unlikely to be noisy or cause any disturbance.
We are very excited about our plans for the Blue Cross rehoming and advice unit in Newport, which will enable us to help hundreds of abandoned and unwanted pets every year, addressing a real welfare need in the area.
We are looking forward to becoming a part of the local community, whose support we really hope to build on.
