MY HUSBAND and I took our two grandchildren to Tredegar House on Wednesday to have a walk around with the dog and for them to have a kick around with a football. They wanted an ice cream so my husband went to the kiosk by the play area and asked for three small cornets, he was shocked to be charged £7.50, that is £2.50 each. There were quite a few families having picnics most probably thinking it was a cheap day out, the kids had the playground (which has deteriorated a lot since the last time I was down there) plenty of room to let off energy until they wanted an ice cream.
For somebody with three or four kiddies that would be £7.50 to £10 which is a lot of money for someone on a budget just trying to give the kids a day out. They want to encourage families to come and enjoy places like this so why exploit them with prices like this for a small ice cream which most kids would want?
