DISGUSTING, poor services for Gaer residents and visitors yet again, who can no longer go see an evening film or eat out after or before a film as the Newport Transport bus services are now going to be cut off far too early at 7.45pm instead of the previous 11pm.
Being a disabled wheelchair user, I and other armed forces veterans living on the Gaer estate, value using the bus to Friars Walk but now, I and others are even more cut off and disenfranchised by Newport Transport.
Every other estate is served well by a bus service, but the Gaer suffers a poor service yet again.
The choice we are left with is to make our way all the way down to Cardiff Road to catch a bus or to make our way uphill to the Handpost or to Bassaleg Road to catch a Stagecoach bus.
The elderly, disabled, parents with young children and young people will find this difficult, and will instead be isolated on a hilly bluff which NT no longer wants to serve.
Is it any wonder they are losing services and passengers to other providers?
I am so angry about these changes, never mind the half hourly service we currently get whereas other estates get a much more regular service.
Two buses an hour is the very least such an estate deserves, and we don’t always get that as some evening buses are cut, but then to cease the service at 7.45pm Monday to Saturday, and even earlier on a Sunday, is downright ridiculous.
Yet another nail in the coffin of Newport if this timetable is enacted. Come on Newport Transport get with supporting our city instead of adding to the destruction of our city.
