READ with amusement Mr Humphries’ letter (17/10) in which he refers to Brian Donovan’s remarks about Paul Flynn and the Newport Labour Party.
While I agree that Paul Flynn is a highly respected MP I cannot deny Mr Donovan’s right to express his views.
You are correct, of course, to underline that he is somewhat an expert on minor topics such as pigeon poo and hedge-cutting.
However, I do think sometimes he does get mixed up with what powers the council and the MP have.
He does tend to lambast both for issues they have no power over, which is sad, and like Mr Humphries, I wish he would stop being so nasty.
I am glad to see Mr Donovan back on the letters page as it has been very lacking without his regular funny comments about life in Newport.
