YOU kindly published my letter about the Argus re-telling the extraordinary story of the Planning Committee almost scuppered the development at the Duffryn School site, in your Review of 2016. I pointed out that the solution to the problem appeared in Argus letters the day before the Council announced it. That is - to re-submit the planning application to build a Welsh Medium Secondary School and upgrade Duffryn School for the whole Council to determine. You readily published my ribbing the politicians and officers but drew the line at my gentle criticism of Argus journalists by omitting the final paragraph of my letter. It read “I also sent the suggestion to a reporter who covered the story originally (before the letter was published) but he also ignored it. It is the first time I have known a journalist pass over the opportunity of a scoop!”
