THE ongoing cost to taxpayers of Caerphilly council senior officer pay debacle is draining the council coffers.
Following my question at full council we have learnt that to date this sad affair has cost taxpayers some £2.5 million, this is equivalent to a 3% council tax rise.
The council leader appears to labouring under the illusion that as the money has come out of council balances, that this somehow has no consequences on services.
As a local councillor I am fully aware of the pressure on resources we currently face, this can only be made worse as money continues to drain away resulting in diminished reserves at time when the council are making over eight million pounds worth of cuts to services.
