WELSH Nationalist Mr Nutt says “Why not contact your local Plaid contact and stand for us in the forth coming council election” (Letters, 28 February). It would appear that Plaid Cymru, like local independents in Caerphilly, are desperate to find people to represent their unpopular causes in the May council elections. With Labour leadership, Caerphilly council has set the lowest council tax increases in all Wales over the last two years (at just 1%), and has prioritised protection of the public services residents most value - despite facing millions of pounds of Tory Westminster government cuts over the last 5 years. Our communities will be safer and better protected from ongoing Tory austerity with Labour leadership re-elected on 4th May.
