I CANNOT believe the audacity of the local Liberal Democratic in the St Julians area of Newport.
In their most recent Focus newsletter, they claim that changes to the St Julians bus timetable that is to come into effect on 6th March 2017 and the introduction of a late evening minibus service to St Julians is as a result of a meeting that took place between Councillor Carmel Townsend, a member of the Lib Dem team and Newport Transport at the beginning of December last year.
I know for sure that the recent changes are not due to the meeting that the Lib Dems had with Newport Transport and that they are not solely responsible for Newport Transport agreeing to the introduction of an evening minibus service.
Argus readers will be aware of my petition that was signed by almost 160 St Julians bus users and handed in to the Operations Manager at Newport Transport on 2nd November 2016 calling on Newport Transport to restore our evening bus service.
Since then I have been in regular contact with Newport Bus.
As a St Julians bus user myself, I talk to St Julians bus users regularly and I provide Newport Transport with feedback on the St Julians bus service.
I have suggested to them on many occasions that they trial a late evening minibus service to St Julian’s as have our local Labour Party Councillors Deb Davies and Mark Spencer.
St Julian’s Lib Dems must accept that they are not solely responsible for any changes made and publicly apologise for their false claims.
