MILLIONS of self-employed workers are facing a 3p tax rise.
The Tory chancellor is set to target hard working and the back bone of the British economy to plug a £4.5 billion black hole, a failed Tory policy.
Philip Hammond is considering hiking national insurance payments on self-employed profits by 3% in the budget.
It would mean tradesmen earning £40,000 a year would face an £80 a month rise in their tax bill.
Even those earning £12,000 a year would see their monthly bill rise by £10.
When you include the cost of fuel and increased business tax, some self-employed going out of business, increasing prices or worse dealing in cash in hand some payments wouldn’t go through the books.
All three would mean less revenue to the government.
