UNDER section 6 of the sexual offences act 1956: unlawful sexual act with a child under 16, there is a 12 month time constraint where by the victim needs to report it to the police within 12 months of the attack happening.
As the law stands now if a girl or boy over thirteen but under sixteen is sexually assaulted they need to report it within 12 months of it happening other wise no charges can be brought.
So the only thing their abusers can be charged with is rape or sexual assault which is even harder to prove.
I have started this petition to get the government to abolish the time limit because so many victims are coming forward later in life for various reasons.
Please sign and share and help victims get the justice they so rightly deserve.
