HAVING attended the dedication service for the war memorial in Langstone I would like to thank all those who came along that day on Saturday June 3 at 11am.

Local residents including two who had lost loved ones in the Second World War laid wreaths along with dignitaries from the church, military, civic and members from local and also regional political parties.

Of special significance some veterans with standards bearing relevant colours and a very spritely 100 years young Mr Ron Jones, all smartly dressed.

The police and some of their cadets were also in attendance.
A mention is due to Mr Edward Jeffery, Chairman of Langstone Community Council, and his fellow committee members and sponsors of the event to whom without their efforts and support the memorial would not exist.

But of course the day was a poignant reminder to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the conflicts of war.

To all those fallen service personnel from past, present and future conflicts the very least we can do is remember them and through education they shall not be forgotten.
