TREDEGAR House is undergoing roof replacement. This deserves merit.
On occasions I have accompanied wheel-chair bound guests, the volunteers and staff were very helpful.
The house gardens are a particularly pleasing sight.
Not all is praiseworthy. Whilst conservation must be a priority to contain this building it is farcical that funds - bound to be limited - should have been spent on conserving a polar bear rug that can be seen in one of the bedrooms.
The item is an horrific example of the past hunting by man.
Children visiting should not have to see this but enjoy the beauty of bears in the wild or on TV.
The item has nothing to do with the Morgans, it was acquired on a whim by a former curator. Comments have been made.
One of the Friends of Tredegar House who was acting as a guide remarked to me “We’ve told them to remove it”. The house seems deaf. I have no idea who is in charge at Tredegar House.
Since they acquired the lease there has been a succession of general managers who have only stayed months, a worrying fact for continuity.
