FOLLOWING the recent articles in the Argus I have been interested in the celebration of the arrival of the Basque children 80 years ago.
I was born in Caerleon in a cottage on the Tram Road 91 years ago.
My first recollection of Cambria house was when it was a work house and my mother and others took food for the men living there.
It was then used to house the Basque children, my friends and I used to go there to play with the children.
I attended the recent celebration with my husband but was disappointed not to meet others who had lived in Caerleon at that time.
