I RECENTLY attended the A&E at Royal Gwent Hospital and was amazed to see the amount of patients waiting to be attended to on trolleys in the corridors, some were sat in chairs with drips in their arms and the same in wheel chairs.

When I was speaking to members of the nursing staff they explained that some of the patients should be in a hospital bed but there was a bed blockage and as there were no beds available so the patients had to be treated in corridors.

With Pontllanfraith council offices now closed this building would be an ideal solution for the after care of patients to be moved too thus releasing the beds in the Royal Gwent Hospital and any other hospitals that are experiencing the same problems.

The council offices has ample car parking and also has easy access for the local transport.

I feel that the NHS and Caerphilly council should give this suggestion some serious consideration for benefit of the patients.
