YOUR correspondent, Andrew Nutt, repeats the myth put about by the Tory Party and the mainstream media of Jeremy Corbyn doing a U-turn on students’ tuition fees.

If Andrew would take the trouble to seek out the original quote to a journalist at the NME, he would see that is a complete misrepresentation of the truth.

The fact is that Labour’s manifesto promised to abolish tuition fees, - nothing more. All Jeremy Corbyn said in addition to this, was that he felt it was unfair for ex students to be saddled with such astronomic debts and that he would look into it and see if something could be done about it.

Essentially, he made no promises, but would do his best to help them if possible.

I would be very surprised if any ex-student took this as a promise to get rid of their debts, and am surprised and disappointed, Andrew, that you have chosen to align yourself with the Tories and their cronies in order to help them besmirch Corbyn’s character and reputation, particularly when, from where I’m standing, your favoured party, Plaid Cymru, and Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour, have much more in common than they have differences. Let’s look to work together where we can.
