IF THE Tory government wants us out of the European Union so that we can take control of our economy and infrastructure why has transport minister Chris Grayling handed over the London Midland railway franchise to a consortium run by the Dutch state subsidiary Abellio, Hong Kong metro operator MTR and the private East Japan Railway Company?

Surely there is a valid case for bringing railways into public ownership to be run in the interests of passengers not private profit?

For example, when in public hands, the east coast main line returned over one billion to the treasury, kept fares down, had record passenger satisfaction and had excellent industrial relations.

Obviously, a Tory Brexit means more exploitation of us to feather the nests of the capitalist corporate elite!

I wonder if the MP for Monmouth David Davies would care to comment on the above?
