THE letters page has recently had two contributions (the second in support of the first) from ladies questioning the right of men - and in particular those ‘of a certain age’ as one put it - to express anti-abortion views. I fail to see the logic in that.

For one thing, the fact that it takes two to tango and create a new life surely qualifies both to express views on its termination!

We are always hearing the pro-abortion argument that it’s a woman’s right to do what she pleases with her body. Isn’t it time we heard more about the rights of the little one growing inside her?

As a man ‘of a certain age’ myself, I have just become a grandfather for the first time.

I feel greatly privileged to be able to look at the little miracle which is my granddaughter.

It’s horrendous to think of all those lives being prevented from coming to birth, and I feel very sorry for the women - yes, and the men - who have to live with the consequences.
