COULD I gently point out to D B Shirley that there is no all-powerful Welsh language lobby at work in the Welsh Assembly.
For the supposed Welsh language lobby read ‘Welsh government’ as all Welsh legislation is, of course, passed in a democratic way.
Generally speaking all Welsh government grants to charities and trusts have to have a Welsh translation attached. Such documentation is simple common sense in any bilingual society.
And as the Welsh government is pursuing a policy of complete bilingualism in all aspects of our lives for the immediate future, people should now try to get used to more, not fewer, translations of everyday forms.
Although such arrangements are costly, government policy of this kind is very much welcomed by this over-riding majority of the Welsh people.
