MAY we take this opportunity through your letters page to inform the residents of Blackwood who have contacted us in relation to the vacant Somerfield Site exactly what the proposals are for the site?

Originally on January 12, 2017, planning permission was granted for: ‘Subdivide existing A1 retail unit into three units, provide associated changes to the external appearance and servicing arrangements, and change the use of one new unit from A1 retail to D2 gym’. However, this permission has never been implemented.

Consequently a new planning application ref: 17/0752/COU has now been submitted by Snap Fitness who is a 24 hour gym operator with the proposal to open 24 hours a day Sunday to Sunday.

Therefore, can any resident who has contacted us with queries in relation to this proposed development please write to the Planning Department Tredomen House, Tredomen Park, Ystrad Mynach, Hengoed, CF82 7WF, quoting Planning Application No: 17/0752/COU.
