LAST Thursday evening, Pontllanfraith’s three Labour councillors were glad to support a well-attended Caerphilly council consultation meeting on the future of Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre.
Service users very articulately and passionately argued against the proposed closure of our local leisure centre, highlighting both the popularity and health/community benefits of the services presently enjoyed by users. Pontllanfraith’s councillors support our community’s call to retain Pont Leisure Centre as a valued local amenity.
Yet in the current climate of further Tory austerity cuts to our council’s budget, we know that very few of our council services are immune from review. We hope as many of Pontllanfraith’s residents as possible will respond to Caerphilly council’s consultation on this issue.
