A HUNT leader of Torfaen council laments the fact that his budget has been cut by £1 million. This amount cut from our public services is trivial in comparison to the £93 billion to £180 billion given as handouts to corporations by our government on a yearly basis.
Figures for the financial year 2012-13 show a £93 billion handout compromising a subsidies, grants, corporate tax benefits and hidden transport subsidies etc.
So we give billions from the public purse to private corporations so they can reap a private profit! For example in 2007 the Welsh assembly government gave Amazon.com, Inc., £8.8 million.
The reality Cllr A Hunt is that there is no shortage of money as the “magic money tree” (the public purse) is functioning normally taking money from the poor (who get austerity programmes) and giving it to the rich corporate elite! (Who get opulent lifestyles!).
Meanwhile, “back at the ranch” our children take food items into schools for the Harvest Festival to be donated to food banks.
If you are not angry with the great “free-market” capitalist system then you have not been paying attention.
