NEWPORT City Homes (NCH) is opening a new office at 195 Upper Dock Street, Newport, during March.

The organisation claims that this is right next to the bus station making it easy for tenants to access their services. I would like to point out that the bus station that they refer to is the Market Square bus station that is mainly used by Stagecoach and NAT buses not our local Newport Transport services which most Newport people use.

The bus station that is mainly used by local people is at Friars Walk. Whilst getting to this new office will be a lot easier to get to than Nexus House is for most NCH tenants, getting to the office from Friars Walk bus station involves crossing two very busy roads, through the Market Square bus station and across another busy road used mainly by taxis which is not easy for the elderly and disabled!

In Newport City Homes’ latest copy of their news magazine Bridge Brief, they state that there are some exciting changes coming to their customer services - that their service standards will be shaped by residents.

Quote: “We want to provide high-quality services that meet your needs. If we are not doing that then we need to know about it. We’re training all our colleagues to deliver a high-quality customer service. You will see and feel a change in the way in which we work with you,” unquote.

I wonder how many NCH residents in a years time will have come away from this new office seeing and feeling these changes!
