WITH the news that a second company has pulled out of bidding for the Wales and Borders rail franchise and setting up of the South Wales Metro, isn’t this an opportune moment for the Welsh Labour Government to step in (and step up!) and nationalise the service as proposed in the Labour Party Manifesto?
With train users no longer unwittingly lining the pockets of foreign companies who are in it just to make money for their bosses and shareholders, the extra income available to Wales would surely be welcome.
And as for the service itself, we all know what a disaster privatisation has been, nationwide.
Re-nationalisation of the railways is one of Labour’s most popular policies, so come on Carwyn, seize the moment!
