I WAS recently a patient in the Royal Gwent Hospital where I was looked after by a team of professional dedicated and amazing people you could ever wish to meet.

While I was in there the Beast from the East came our way and the stories that doctors and nurses were telling with what was happening outside were amazing, starting with the 4x4 drivers volunteering to bring the staff in and taking them home.

The staff would stay working until their next shift arrived.

I am not sure how much the drivers realised how much it was appreciated from the staff but the patients as well.

I could see from my window the amount of 4x4’s coming in, dropping off and picking up. It was amazing.

Then I was told by one nurse that her village had all come out after the snow had stopped, to clear the roads and driveways, and made new friends and talked to neighbours they had never seen before.

Afterwards they all went to the pub and had a party.

Then I was told the call went out for bread needed for the patients to have their toast for breakfast, and Morrisons opened their bakery early to bake loaves of bread, it was well appreciated.

Thank you all for your time and help.
