ON SATURDAY March 10 there were signs outside Pontypool library which read gold, silver, jewellery, Rolex watches, antiques.

On investigation, downstairs in the community room was a company Jewellers who I believe were not only selling the above but also evaluating and purchasing them from the public?

I wonder if librarian Mark Tanner, Alison Ward (chief executive of Torfaen council and Cllr A Hunt (leader) could clarify this? Unless the company are a charitable and benevolent organisation I presume it was looking to make a profit by buying peoples valuables at low cost and then selling them at a higher price?

In times of austerity its a buyers market and desperate and poor people are vulnerable to being exploited!

If indeed, the above company used our public library to do this and also Torfaen council profited by letting out the room. I think the above employees of the council should resign their posts on ethical and moral grounds.
