This year as we appreciate the struggle that mostly working class women suffered to achieve the vote, arrests, hunger strikes, force-feeding, sexual assault, insults, after many years women could now be doctors, go to University etc,but are we stepping back to a time when women were not seen as important but just something pretty to look at? Im talking about Love Island of course, breast implants, hair extensions and false tans appear to be the norm and intelligence plays no part in their ability to take part in this programme, its banal and entirely feigned and used to promote a cheap consumerism that lets down a whole generation of susceptible young women.
