I am rather surprised at Jessica Morden , Newport MP, winding-up the Windrush/immigration error. Everyone knows it is a terrible mistake, particularly on severely applying illegal immigrant rules. The row going on now is who destroyed the original papers - Labour or Conservative. Does it matter? Although Theresa May has promised to do something about it, Labour are intent on winding-up the sad issue into a major political battle. Why? And, more importantly, why is our MP telling us that she has many cases in her constituency - Newport East.? I have been a great supporter of Mrs Morden since she was first elected but amazed by this reaction. Coming from Pill, I went to school in the 60s with kids of various nationalities, good friends too. Perhaps Jessica can tell us how many cases on this have occurred in Newport and what she thinks is the prime problem which makes this a top priority. Surely the Argus would have picked up a local story if there was a case directly connected to Windrush? I have only seen three people mentioned on the TV who are affected. I suggest that Labour are now trying to make this into a major political debate for more votes. Sorry Jessica I see no reason for your scary comments and to fall for the wind-up on an issue which could impact on a well respected part of Newport's people is shameful.
